Your Input Needed for COM

Filed under: Uncategorized — Steven Carr @ 5:49 pm

The Department of Communication (including the Journalism program) is undertaking a program review. As part of this self-study, we want to find out how well students’ needs are being met in terms of you getting the Communication and/or Journalism courses you need and experiencing teaching methods that fit your learning styles. To that end, we would really appreciate your taking 5 – 10 minutes of your time to complete a quick online survey at

https://survey.ipfw.edu/ss/wsb.dll/39/comjourstudents.htm

To ensure that your opinions are included in our final report, please complete the survey no later than November 7th.

Thank you,

Marcia D. Dixson

Important Policy Changes

Filed under: Uncategorized — Steven Carr @ 12:23 pm

Please note the following important policy changes, approved by the Graduate Faculty last month:

  • Submission of Synthesis Papers: beginning Spring 2009, the Graduate Committee Chair now is responsible for submitting an electronic copy of the First Deposit and Final Draft of the Synthesis Paper electronically.  Synthesis Papers will be available to Graduate Faculty via Blackboard.
  • Reapplications: If an applicant is denied admission to the program and re-applies, Graduate Faculty will not consider any application until a year or more has passed.
  • Admitting undergrads into graduate-only 500-level classes: Admitting any undergrad into a graduate-only class is entirely at the discretion of the instructor.  If an instructor admits an undergrad into a graduate-only 500-level class, the instructor must notify the Graduate Director at the time the student is enrolled in the class.  The Graduate Faculty recommends that any undergrad in a graduate-only 500-level class should have completed 90 or more credit hours, maintain a GPA of 3.0 or more, and have permission of the instructor teaching the course.
